As we reach the halfway point of 2025, it’s a great moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made together. From welcoming new partnerships and celebrating over 500 young people moving into their homes, to welcoming new Local House Projects and expanding the NHP team, we’ve seen real momentum in our mission to support care leavers.
A message from our CEO
9th July 2025
Young people tell us that the House Project approach helps significantly, but we should never underestimate the enormous challenges they face at such a critical time in their lives. This reality was brought home to us recently with Sue’s decision to swap her working life at NHP for retirement caring for her new granddaughter two days a week. Even though Sue is fully in control of this decision-making process - something our young people often are not - the transition has still been discombobulating; letting go of something she enjoys and that has defined her, and moving on to something that will be incredibly rewarding and joyous.

This past year has been one of growth and recognition. We moved into a vibrant new office space, welcomed new talent to our team, formed exciting new partnerships, and continued to evolve as a learning organisation. National awards acknowledged our work, but our proudest achievements remain the deep, authentic relationships we’ve built and the sense of belonging that defines everything we do.

Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards
In May, we were proud to attend the Frontline Awards to celebrate Coventry City Council’s Pathways service winning the Multi-Agency Partnership of the Year award. Funded by the Rayne Foundation, the Pathways programme brings together a number of organisations, including NHP, Coram Voice and The Rees Foundation, working closely alongside the Throughcare Service, Coventry House Project and Lifelong Links. Together, the partnership supports young people leaving care to develop skills, build positive relationships, and focus on their emotional health and wellbeing. Three cohorts of young people from Coventry have now go through the Pathways Programme. Seeing the partnership recognised nationally was a fantastic moment and a powerful reflection of the impact collaborative working can have in supporting care-experienced young people.

Aspirational Awards Update
In May, the Aspirational Awards panel awarded just over £15,000 to 19 young people across our LHPs. It was inspiring to see such a wide range of ideas, goals and determination reflected in the applications, and a privilege to support more young people as they take their next steps forward. Funding in Round 9 supported training + graduate employment scheme, equipment for a baking business and support for other businesses, sports sessions, music lessons, lifeguard course, and day trips. We have also recently completed a 3 year review of our Aspirational Awards and the impact they’ve had. Over the past 3 years, we’ve awarded over £147,000 to 138 young people (not including figures from our most recent round in May). The Make and Take lunchtime club - every Thursday!
The club provides a welcoming space for all our young people, from cohorts both past and present , to enjoy creative activities and build community together.
